You love being a clinician...
...and you THINK you remember the theory you learned in grad school but some guidance would be helpful.
I have worked in so many different facets of clinical work and find that theory is the one line that can guide through a complicated case. Even if you feel your job isn't 'that clinical'. Even if you feel that your agency doesn't 'care about theory'.
Theory is meant to help orient our assessments and evaluations. To help us to frame not only what the 'problem' is that needs to be worked on with our clients, but also how to triage which problem you attend to first. Theory helps to decide which path to go down to stabilize our clients before we dig into issues that might de-stabilize them.
Theory helps us to lay out goals, to create measures of progress and teaches us how to discuss these goals with our clients.
I can help you remember the theories that will aid it burnout prevention for YOU. I will work with you to uncover how this work is helping you to heal from your own life challenges, or see how it is triggering you and providing you with an opportunity for growth.
I am well versed in the following theories and would love to help you feel very confident in them as well:
- Psychodynamic Theory
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
- Narrative Therapy
- Strengths Based Theories
- Trauma Informed Care
- Motivational Interviewing/ Stages of Change
- Solution Focused Therapy
- Emotional Focused Couples Therapy
- The Gottman Method of Couples Therapy
- ... and more.
